Cloud-managed (Meraki)

Cisco Meraki MS Switches

Cloud-managed switching. Meraki MS access and aggregation switches bring zero-touch provisioning, multigigabit, and PoE to the wired network, all managed from the Meraki dashboard with no on-box CLI.

Overview

The Meraki MS line extends cloud management to the wired network. It suits teams that want consistent policy and visibility across many sites without managing switch CLIs, with the MS130 covering compact and rugged access and the MS150 adding multigigabit for Wi-Fi 6E/7 closets. Higher models handle aggregation and distribution. Licensing is per switch and tied to the model, so we scope the hardware and the license term together.

What it delivers

Why Cisco Meraki MS Switches

  • Zero-touch provisioning and centralized config from the Meraki dashboard.
  • MS130 compact and rugged access; MS150 multigigabit access.
  • Aggregation and distribution models with high-speed uplinks and stacking.
  • Per-switch cloud license tied to the hardware model.
Key capabilities

What the platform brings

Cloud-managed dashboard with zero-touch provisioning

Every MS switch is managed through the Meraki dashboard, which delivers true zero-touch provisioning. Switches can be configured before they arrive on site or standardized across a fleet using templates, and they automatically connect to the cloud to download configuration and firmware.

Virtual stacking and physical stacking

Virtual stacking lets administrators manage up to thousands of ports from a single dashboard without configuration scripts. Select models add physical stacking, such as 2x80G physical plus virtual on the MS150 and up to 400G plus virtual stacking on the MS450 aggregation switch.

PoE and PoE++ across the range

PoE budgets scale by model, from 120W and 240W on the MS130 compact up to 370W and 740W on MS130, MS150, MS210, and MS225 P, LP, and FP variants. MS150 UPOE+ models deliver 60W PoE++ to power demanding Wi-Fi 7 access points and next-generation IoT devices.

Multigigabit and high-speed uplinks

The family supports up to 10 GbE access ports and 100 GbE uplinks. Multigigabit RJ45 options reach 2.5 GbE on the MS130 and 5 GbE on the MS150, with 1 GbE SFP, 10 GbE SFP+, and 40G/100G QSFP uplink choices depending on model.

Wired security and segmentation

MS switches support IEEE 802.1x and MAC-based RADIUS authentication, multiple admin roles, DHCP snooping, IGMP snooping, and voice VLANs. Comprehensive security reporting helps proactively detect rogue DHCP servers, and mGig MS130 and MS150 models are hardware-ready for Adaptive Policy segmentation with an advanced license.

Integrated troubleshooting and layer 7 visibility

Built-in tools such as remote cable testing, packet captures, cycle port, and device reboot reduce mean time to resolution from anywhere. Integrated layer 7 fingerprinting identifies hundreds of applications and devices, and dynamic network topology mapping shows how the network is interconnected.

FAQ

Cisco Meraki MS Switches questions, answered

Do I need on-site IT staff to deploy MS switches?

No. The Meraki dashboard provides true zero-touch provisioning, so you can pre-provision hardware and deploy in bulk without dedicated onsite IT. Switches can be configured before they arrive, then automatically connect to the cloud to download their configuration, join the right network, and update firmware.

Which models support physical stacking versus virtual stacking?

All MS switches support virtual stacking, which lets you manage up to thousands of ports from one dashboard without configuration scripts. The MS150 adds 2x80G physical stacking plus virtual for up to 8 switches, the MS210 and MS225 are cross-compatible at 80G physical plus virtual, and the MS450 provides dedicated stack ports for up to 400G plus virtual stacking.

How much PoE power is available and can it run Wi-Fi 7 access points?

PoE budgets scale by model, from 120W and 240W on the MS130 compact up to 370W and 740W on the P, LP, and FP variants of the MS130, MS150, MS210, and MS225. The MS150 UPOE+ models deliver 60W PoE++ per the datasheet, which is intended to power demanding Wi-Fi 7 access points and next-generation IoT devices.

What is included with the hardware warranty?

Every Cisco Meraki MS switch includes a limited lifetime hardware warranty with next-day advance hardware replacement. The simplified Meraki licensing model bundles software upgrades, centralized systems management, and phone support together so support is covered under one subscription.
